The International Study Day "New Research on Archaeological Textiles" is organised on 16 May 2023 at the Louvre Museum. It will bring together scientists and heritage professionals for a working day of presentations, round tables and exchanges with a view to prefiguring joint projects and events.
Three main themes will be addressed:
New Directions in Textile Archaeology
Methods, Mineralization and Textile Materials
Textile Representation and Design in the Museum and Among Professionals
In particular, the capacities of new analytical approaches (X-ray imaging, dating) and digital methods will be explored to provide new insights into archaeological, conservation and museographic issues, but also to inspire new textile systems.
The objective of the study day is thus two folds:
to exchange on a very active but rather dispersed field of research due to regional research practices
to foster exchanges in order to create common interdisciplinary, inter-institutional and international synergies for future joint research initiatives.
